More Details

This multidisciplinary mission involves participants and contributors with backgrounds in geology, biology and oceanography. This includes experts from 2 government departments (Fisheries and Oceans Canada - Nova Scotia & Newfoundland; and Natural Resources Canada) and 2 universities (Memorial University and Université du Québec à Montréal).

This mission, which spans nearly 3 weeks, will employ the services of the Remotely Operated Vehicle ROPOS (Remotely Operated Platform for Ocean Science - Canadian Scientific Submersible Facility). ROPOS (figure right) will be configured to dive to depths of 3000 m and for this mission will be equipped with 2 arms and associated tools for sampling (scoops, nets, etc....), core tubes, sample boxes for biology and geology, multibeam, two HD cameras, digital still camera, etc...
